10/4/2001 - Ken Dahl, Cottage Grove Economic Development Corporation
The Village and Town continue there discussions on the proposed addition to Fireman's Park. The school board and a group interested in an indoor hockey rink are also planning to aid in the development costs.

Tonight at there monthly joint meeting the Village and Town were shown an outline of the possible development of the addition to Fireman's Park. The subject has been brought up several times at the monthly joint meetings between the Village and Town boards. This was the first time a preliminary plan was presented before the joint boards. A split of 50/50 is being talked about for the funding of the parts of the park the Town and Village would develop jointly.

Besides the Village and Town Boards, the School Board has had several meetings to review the development of the park with some preliminary positive comments to help fund development of certain features in the park for use by the School District Students.

Also, a group is interested in placing an indoor ice rink for hockey and community use in the park. The group feels they can raise the money themselfs to build the ice arena.

The Village, Town and School Board will be discussing there individual financial commitments as they work thru there individual budget processes over the next several weeks.
