Historical Society publishes Cottage Grove history

In 1903, what building stood where the Community Bank stands now? What was there in 1933? Which man from Cottage Grove: Discovered a comet? Shot as well as Buffalo Bill Cody? Won a 10-mile air race at Curtis Wright Airport, Milwaukee?

These are some of the topics covered in the Cottage Grove Area Historical Society's new publication, "Cottage Grove, WI, Historical Notes and Illustrations."

The book includes a map of the first Cottage Grove/Vilas and a map showing the location of early buildings in the present Village of Cottage Grove, as well as several pictures of students at area schools.

The book is an indexed compilation of the features former CGAHS secretary Frederick Volker prepared each month for five years. It is for sale at Northside Meats and Deli, The Community Bank, or by contactin Dennis Bork, 839-5578, or Fred Volker, 222-1040. The book costs $10.
