The Cottage Grove Economic Development Corporation Web Site Committee invites the community to an open house on Thursday, Jan. 10, to learn more about CottageGroveOnline, a new community web site launched on Dec. 1. The event will be held at the Village Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Local business owners and community groups are encouraged to attend to learn how to get a free listing in the searchable Business Directory. The directory offers the community an easy way to find local businesses and organizations that serve the community. Since its early December launch, dozens of local businesses have registered for their free listing.
"From 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., members of the CGEDC will be available to offer personal assistance in registering for a business directory listing," according to Dan Costello, a member of the CGEDC Web Site Committee. "At 7:30 p.m., we'll offer a half-hour seminar, using a hypothetical business to demonstrate how to use the directory listing to support your marketing activities." Costello suggests businesses and organizations bring with them a brief description of the services they provide.
CottageGroveOnline also features community news and events, a current weather forecast, community demographics and historical information, links to adjacent community, governmental, library, and transportation web sites, and links to business development sites. In early 2002, will add additional features, including answers questions posed by the community, local business profiles, Village-related information, and community photographs.
“The CGEDC is anxious to involve local businesses, community leaders, and the public in ongoing development of the site as a community resource,” comments committee member Ken Dahl. “We encourage the community to visit the site regularly as new content is added.
The Jan. 10 open house will be held at the Village Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This is the first in a series of opportunities offered by the CGEDC to educate the community about CottageGroveOnline. Refreshments will be provided.
