The listening session will be open to residents of the Village and Town of Cottage Grove. State Reps. Tom Hebl and Mark Miller are interested in the community's concerns regarding Gov. McCallen's proposal to eliminate shared revenue
from the state to cities, villages, and townships.
Both the village and town are considered
property-rich districts. Under the governor's proposal, both the village and town are considered property-rich states. As a result, each municipality is on the line to lose more than $100,000 from state's elimination of shared revenues. If shared revnues are eliminated, the Village's and Town's 2002 spending will be significantly impacted.
