Village board decides direction of Fireman's Park addition
4/9/2002 - Ken Dahl, Cottage Grove Economic Development Corporation
The preliminary plan for the Fireman's Park addition was presented to the Village Board on Monday, April 1st.

The Village Board reviewed the preliminary plan for the addition to Fireman's Park. While it is anticipated there would be changes to the plan before the final version is finished, the board generally liked the direction the park addition design was taking. The board approved the preliminary design.

Having a ' vision' for what the addition to Fireman's Park addition could look like should increase interest by individuals or businesses who would want to donate to help the construction of the Fireman's Park expansion. Donations from a few interested parties is anticipated without a formal fundraising campaign due to community spirit.

It was decided by the Park Committee and told to the Village Board during the Park Committee report at the Village Board meeting to wait for the economy to improve before doing a study to see if a formal fundraising effort would generate the amount of money needed to complete the construction of the recreational facilities for the addition to Fireman's Park.

While the referendum the Town of Cottage Grove held on joining with the Village on the Fireman's Park expansion was defeated by the Township, the expansion of the Park is anticipated to still move forward.
