Why did you start this business or service?

As a teenager, Bill tired of eating macaroni and cheese or spaghetti out of a can. He began to experiment with making bagel sandwiches, adding cream cheese, ham, melted cheese and other special seasonings. "Wow", he thought. "This is fantastic!" Bill's passion for baking cookies and sharing his secret bagel sandwich recipe with his family and friends spurred an interest in owning his own business at an early age.

After working for and managing a variety of restaurant settings, Bill decided to pursue a business degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in accounting. After graduation, he worked for an accounting firm for six months before economy-related factors caused him to be laid off. With accounting opportunities being limited, Bill decided to "bite the bullet" and open his own business. The opportunity in Cottage Grove presented itself in the Cottage Grove Marketplace, an ideal facility located near Piggly Wiggly, Movie Magic, and Door Creek Pharmacy.

What is unique about your business or service?

This business is owned and operated by family members. According to Bill, "As a family business, you always take care of your customers and treat them like they are gold. It is a wonderful feeling to see how the little extra care can go a long way. Our customers enjoy the food as well as the environment."
