Clean out your closets and earn extra spending money at the 13th Annual Community Garage Sale, set for Saturday, Aug. 2. Send your registration in by July 15, along with a check for $10, to list your sale on maps distributed one week in advance of the sale at Piggly Wiggly, Cenex, and the Wisconsin Community Bank.
The annual garage sale is sponsored by the Cottage Grove Lioness Club.
"The garage sale funds a variety of community projects," states event organizer Pat Meyer. "It supports Santa's Visit held in conjunction with the December holiday festival, the Senior Citizen Corn Party, high school scholarships, holiday baskets, and a donation to the Monona Grove graduating class."
"Participating in the garage sale is a good way to show community spirit and to meet your neighbors" says Meyer. Those who pay the nominal fee of $10 by July 25 will benefit from free advertising in local newspapers.
The Lioness Club will sell refreshments (brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, and soda) the day of the sale in the Cenex parking lot on the corner of Highways BB and N.
To participate in the event, make a check payable to Cottage Grove Lioness Club, and drop it off at the Wisconsin Community Bank, attention Pat Meyer, or mail to Meyer at 4350 Smith Dr., Deerfield, WI. Send along the yellow form distributed to area homes, pick up a form at the Wisconsin Community Bank or the Herald-Independet, or include an enclosure listing your name, subdivision, street address, phone, and items of interest to be sold (up to 20 words).
