Cottage Grove Community Library Board Approves Slogan and Logo
6/27/2005 - Dan Costello, Cottage Grove Economic Development Corporation
Cottage Grove, Wis. (June 20, 2005) - The Library Board unveiled the logo and slogan for the Cottage Grove Community Library this week. The slogan is "Today's Vision, Tomorrow's Reality."

"That pretty much summarizes where the community of Cottage Grove is today with our library. We have a vision for a library, we're working hard to raise funds to build the library and, if everything goes according to our plans, the Cottage Grove Community Library will be a reality in about three years," said Library Board President Diane Wiedenbeck.

The slogan was selected by the PR Committee in May after two months of work reviewing a host of options and then approved by the Library Board during its May meeting.

The Cottage Grove Community Library logo centers over an open and inviting book resembling a small hill. It features a door that can be opened to reveal the wonderful treasures that will be found inside the library when it is completed.

The logo was designed by PR Committee member and Town resident Christine Pavelko, a graphic artist who also operates Rose Design. The logo was unanimously approved by the PR Committee in May and approved by the Library Board during its June meeting.

"I was thinking of ways to convey ideas taking flight, or something resembling wings when working on variations of the logo design," Pavelko said. "Keeping the design open was important since we're just at the beginning phases of the campaign to bring a library to Cottage Grove."

Joining Pavelko on the Library's PR Committee are Judy Behling, Kathy Sanders, Linda Fonger, Caryn Schmidt, Alfonso Zepeda-Capistrán, and Charlene Blohm.

"The Library Board salutes the work of the PR Committee in tackling the hard work to develop the slogan and logo," Wiedenbeck added. "It is with great pleasure that we unveil their wonderful work to the community at large."

Fund-raising efforts for the Library are being managed by the Capital Campaign Committee, which is led by Jody DeRosa. If fund-raising efforts are successful, the Cottage Grove Community Library should be open by 2008.

Cottage Grove is the only village in Dane County that does not have a public library. Meanwhile, the Book Mobile will continue to visit Cottage Grove on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in the Marketplace Shopping Center parking lot.

Village residents interested in making a tax-deductible contribution to the Cottage Grove Community Library's Capital Campaign should contact either Diane Wiedenbeck at 839-8588 or wiedenbeckd@tds.net or Jody DeRosa at 839-4190 or Jody_Derosa@ssmhc.com.
