Town residents Peggy Jensen and Kathy Zanella-Albright are the newest members of the Cottage Grove Community Library Board. Both were appointed to the Library Board during the May 1st Village Board meeting. Jensen, a member of the Library Board Facilities Committee, is well known by area residents for her weekly “Grove Greetings” column in the Herald-Independent. She has been a Town resident since 1969 and recently retired from Madison Area Technical College after teaching Clinical Laboratory Technicians for 26 years. Jensen was appointed to the Library Board for a one-year term. Zanella-Albright, a member of the Policy Committee, was appointed to one three-year term. She moved to Cottage Grove in 1987, has two children in Monona Grove schools, and believes that libraries are an important part of any community. A teacher who works with children and adults with developmental disabilities, Zanella-Albright also serves on the Dane County Library Board. Jensen and Zanella-Albright are replacing Jody DeRosa and Penny Andrews. DeRosa announced her intention to resign from the Board a few weeks ago due to her increasing obligations at work, and Andrews is retiring from the Board at the conclusion of her one-year term. “The Cottage Grove area is blessed to have so many wonderful volunteers who are willing to support the goal of building a library to serve community needs and interests,” said Diane Wiedenbeck, Library Board President. “We thank Jody and Penny for their outstanding service to their community and welcome Peggy and Kathy to the Board.” Remaining on the Library Board are: Diane Wiedenbeck, President; Gary Ferron, Finance Officer and Finance Committee Chair; Gary Schumacher, Policy Committee Chair; Amy Roberts, Vice President and Facilities Committee Chair; and Charlene Blohm, Secretary and Public Relations Committee chair. If fundraising efforts are successful, the Cottage Grove Community Library should open by 2008. Meanwhile, the Book Mobile will continue to visit Cottage Grove on Wednesdays from 4:30-8:00 p.m. in the Marketplace Shopping Center parking lot.
